It’s that time of the year again! It’s time to start dusting off those guitars and warming up those vocal chords, because preparations for the Strummin’ 2023 concert are well underway! This year’s theme and songs have already been chosen, we’ll let you know more about that very soon, but we can definitely say that it will be a great time!
Guitarists, your call will be issued very soon, so ‘stay tuned’! In the meantime, we’re calling all Soloists and Backing Vocalists!
The Songs
You can find this year’s tracks and backing tracks here to start practicing so you’ll be well prepared.
Auditions
Auditions will be held at St. Julian’s Parish on Friday 28th, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th April. You will have a 15-minute slot, during which we’ll ask you to perform 2 songs (see instructions below).
Whilst live auditions are preferable, for those who cannot make it on the indicated dates, video auditions are being accepted. Videos are to meet the criteria indicated below for each respective role being applied for, please be sure that both you and the music are clearly audible. Submissions are to be sent to music@strummin.mt. no later than Friday 28th April. Please also include your contact information and a valid reason why you cannot attend a live audition in the email.
The concert will be held on the 13th & 14th of October. Save the dates!
Your Song Choices
You are free to apply for either a single or both singing roles (i.e. soloist or backing vocalist, or both).
Those applying for Soloist only:
For your audition, one of your songs needs to be from this year’s setlist (see setlist link above). Your other song can be any other song you feel suits your voice best, be it another song from the setlist itself, or one of your own choosing. We’ll kindly ask you to upload an MP3 of the song you would like to sing.
Those applying for Backing Vocalist only:
Kindly follow this link to submit your application. Further details on your specific audition are provided therein.
Those applying for both Soloist and Backing Vocalist:
You will have 2 auditions, one for each role. Kindly follow the instructions given above for each role and be sure to apply for both (as a soloist via the form below and as a backing vocalist via the link provided above).
Let us know if you need to change the key of any of the songs in the comment section of the application, so that they suit your vocal range better.
We encourage you to try out for any of the songs from the setlist, however keep in mind that there is a possibility that you might not be assigned the songs you auditioned for based on the judges’ recommendations.
The Call
The call is open until Wednesday 26th April (midnight). Late or incomplete applications will unfortunately not be considered.
On the Day
We kindly ask you to be on location and ready to audition at least 15 minutes before your assigned slot, so as to not keep the judges waiting. If you miss your slot, you’ll have to wait for the next free slot in the schedule. A final confirmation of the results of your audition will be sent in the early weeks of May.
N.B. Kindly also be aware of the following:
