After a hiatus of three years, Strummin’ is finally back!

Over the years the Strummin’ concert has become synonymous with the choir of guitarists gathered on one stage together with singers, backing vocalists, band and crew strumming along to adaptations of classic and popular songs. Organised by the Strummin’ Foundation, the concert is put together by volunteers and held over two nights with the proceeds going to a local charity.

There have been 18 editions of Strummin’ held over the years, each year bringing together a 120 strong cast of performers, creating memorable experiences for our participants as well as the audiences they entertained. Strummin’ has also served as a space for aspiring artists and amateur guitarists to gain experience and perform on a stage, resulting in singers and bands launching their careers since. Being one of the main aims of the Strummin’ Foundation, the concert is an opportunity to use music outreach to engage and empower youths, and help develop local skills and talents.

Through this concert, Strummin’ Foundation has supported several local projects for charities such as Hospice Malta, Dar Frate Jacoba, Richmond Foundation, Puttinu Cares, and many more.

Strummin’ Foundation has been hard at work to produce another concert, bigger and better than before, and preparations are well underway. As expected, the Foundation is looking for its performers and crew to bring their vision alive on the stage. Whether you are a singer, guitarist, or have an interest in stage productions and would like to be part of the crew, visit the website https://strummin.mt/ and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/strumminfoundation for further details. The first call will be launched on Monday 25th April for singers to audition. This will be followed by a call for guitarists and crew at a later date.

This year Strummin’ is being held on the 7th and 8th October 2022 at St. Agatha’s Auditorium, Rabat (M.S.S.P) and all proceeds will be donated to the local charity ‘Smiling with Jerome’. This charity aims to provide support, assistance and compassion to individuals and their families who are passing through difficult times, particularly those families with members being diagnosed with cancer or other serious ailments. We encourage all those passionate about music and supporting local charities to apply and join the Strummin’ family.

In the meantime, mark your calendars, and we look forward to entertaining you once again in October!
