Akustika return to the stage this February

Akustika returns to the stage with The Acoustic Club, an intimate live concert taking place on 27 and 28 February 2026 at 8.00pm at Sala San Duminku, Valletta.

Now in its 11th edition, the concert continues Akustika’s ongoing musical journey, presenting acoustic reinterpretations of well-known music within a warm, club-inspired setting. Born from a shared love for acoustic performance, Akustika is a collective of ten professional musicians whose paths first crossed during the Strummin’ concert series. The ensemble comprises Janice Debattista, Jean Claude Vancell, Isabel Camilleri, Malcolm Bonnici, Antonio Olivari, Karl Lewis, Joseph Axiak, Sean Borg, Samuel Aquilina, and Luke Vella Clark. Having last performed together in 2025, the group returns with renewed energy and artistic focus.

Akustika – The Acoustic Club features a curated set of over 20 songs, exploring various facets of rock alongside jazz standards and Maltese repertoire. The programme includes acoustic interpretations of music by artists such as Queen, Billy Joel, The Cranberries, Aerosmith, The Beatles, The Corrs, Roxette, Phil Collins, Tori Amos, and Iron Maiden, among others. Each piece is reimagined to highlight musical nuance, ensemble interaction, and the expressive potential of acoustic instrumentation. Inspired by the atmosphere of early 20th-century music clubs, the concert prioritises intimacy and attentive listening. The acoustic-only format allows familiar songs to be experienced in a new light, placing emphasis on vocal harmonies, natural dynamics, and collective musicianship rather than heavy amplification or production effects.

The event forms part of the wider cultural programme supported by volunteers from the Strummin’ Foundation and is proudly supported by APS Bank.

All profits generated from the concert will be directed towards guitar-teaching programmes organised by the Strummin’ Foundation, supporting access to music education within the community. Tickets for Akustika – The Acoustic Club are available from www.strummin.mt.
